White As Snow

Today God is blessing our town with a beautiful white snowfall.  Everything outside looks so bright and clean.  Here at my home the glistening snow has already accumulated over 10 inches and it is still coming down. Praise God for the beauty of His creation!

The Bible often speaks of our need to stay clean before our holy God.  There are several passages that depict a soul forgiven and cleansed of its sins, as being white as snow.   In order for a person’s soul to be found acceptable before a perfect and righteous God, that individual needs to obey God and be saved.  We are all sinners and God requires each of us to repent when He convicts us of our sins.

Isaiah 1:18 says, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”  Individually we know we are a sinner, because all of us have regrets and are living with consequences of bad things we have done.  As this verse instructs, it is reasonable then, to earnestly consider our need to be forgiven of our sins.  God provides each of us an opportunity through His grace to receive His free gift of salvation.  This salvation will allow us to avoid the penalty due our sins.  Jesus already paid that price on the cross at Calvary.  His shed blood is the propitiation, the appeasement of God’s wrath, that is upon all unforgiven sinners.

Isaiah 1:19 goes on to say “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:” Are you willing to obey the voice of the Holy Spirit and repent of your sins?  If so, you will be forgiven by our God and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Jesus said if you love Him you will keep His commandments.  There are many benefits for living our lives devoted to God.  Keeping clean from iniquities in the spirit world will not result in a grievous lifestyle.  On the contrary, living a Godly existence will result in manifold blessings.  The fruit of our repentance will be a true relationship with bountiful joy from God.

Isaiah 1:20 provides the defiant unbeliever with a dire warning “But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.” All of us must one day appear before the judgment seat of Christ.  We will be required to give an account for all the deeds we have done, all the words we have spoken and all the thoughts we have considered during our lifetime here on earth.   This verse from Isaiah teaches us God will require full payment from the infidel, for all his unforgiven sins.  He will be devoured by the judgement sword of God.  Anyone who rejects the peace offerings of God during his lifetime, will pay for his sins by spending an eternity suffering in the Lake of Fire.

God is good and He forewarns us about the wages of our sins, which is spiritual death.  His words are true, and both Heaven and Hell are real.  Today, if your soul is still blackened from a lifetime of sin, it can be made White as Snow.  If you confess your sins to God, Jesus is faithful and just and will forgive you of your sins.  He will cleanse you of all your unrighteousness.
